Summary
For this project, we were tasked with making a playful 404 page. We were encouraged to do copious research and ideation. Many of us wanted to use animations, and I knew quickly that I wanted to play with several types of animation and explore both options.
Goals
My main goals for this project was to have a silly 404 and make something very painterly. These main goals were split between my two final 404 pages.
Design Process
Ideation Exercises
Within our design process, we began sketching out fast, somewhat sloppy ideas through several different ideation projects. Most of these ideas contained dumping ideas as quickly as possible to gather as many options as possible. Throughout this ideation process, we would show our peers and professor as our ideas developed.
Final Design
I greatly enjoyed doing my final designs for this project and getting everything clean. I decided to remove several of my favorite ideas from the ideation games. From there, I decided to continue with my top two favorites but fully intend to continue with others to add to my portfolio. I had done many more complex sketches, so taking the last step of sketching to design mostly meant spending time solidifying choices.
Adobe Express Build
Due to how I completed my animations, most of my work was done in other apps such as Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, and Animate. However, I did enjoy using the sound function in Adobe Express while compiling my video the way I chose to.
Final Work
In my final work, I greatly appreciate the outcome of my 404 pages. They meet my goals wonderfully, and I love them. 404-page creation is a project I will likely return to whenever I want to jump into a quicker project.

Knowledge Gained
In this project I expanded my knowledge and understanding of animation greatly. I learned how to fully use the animation tools through Procreate which was something I have had an interest in for some time. Additionally I used a completely new resource, Adobe Animation. I still have so much to learn for this new resource but I gained a decent understanding and appreciation for this tool.
